TLR Split Channels

A Photoshop action set for advanced Photoshop users who want the ultimate control during B&W conversion. Splitting off the channels from an image and copying them into an image as layers is like the Channel Mixer on steroids! You get all of the benefits of layers: opacity, blend modes, Blend If, etc.

The TLR Split Channels action set makes it easy to preview 10 different channels for an image. It makes a copy of your image and then splits off the channels from RGB, CMYK, and LAB conversions. The available channels include: CMYK Cyan, CMYK Magenta, CMYK Yellow, CMYK Black, LAB Lightness, LAB A, LAB B, RGB Red, RGB Green, RGB Blue, Mode:Grayscale, Desaturate.

After you preview the channels, you can make grayscale layer sets for any or all of the conversion sets.

Grayscale Preview YOU MUST RUN THIS ACTION! Creates a set of 10 grayscale channels for mixing into a B&W image.
Convert CMYK Uses the CMYK channels created by Grayscale Preview to build CMYK layers.
Convert Grayscale Convert Grayscale Uses the grayscale channels created by Grayscale Preview to build Grayscale and Desaturate layers.
Convert LAB Uses the LAB channels created by Grayscale Preview to build LAB layers.
Convert RGB Uses the RGB channels created by Grayscale Preview to build RGB layers.
Convert All Creates layers for all ten channels.

My tutorial, "Split Your Channels for Improved B&W," will get you started using the Split Channels technique.
