ABOUT THE ARTIST

My interest in photography was stimulated by my father. As far back as I can remember, he was interested in photography and encouraged me to share that interest.

When I was an adolescent, my father and I built a darkroom in the house. For a year or two, it was a simple wood frame and black plastic. Our photographic work was limited to black and white. Eventually, we moved the darkroom to a room of its own, so we could work with color film.

I won my first art competition at a local museum when I was about 14 years old, and I've been refining my photographic vision since.

All of my work is now digital. I currently use a Canon 1Ds MkII, Canon 20D, and an assortment of Canon "L" series lenses (the best glass Canon makes).

By honing my skills as a digital printmaker, I am able to create expressive images that faithfully reflect my vision as an artist. Printing them on an Epson 2200 printer with archival inks and acid-free paper ensures that they will last for generations without any evidence of fading -- far longer than black & white or color photographs.

Artistry requires attention to details. My prints start with Canon RAW files to extract as much dynamic range as possible. The workflow is calibrated throughout, with custom profiles for the camera, the monitor, and the printer. Each image receives painstaking attention in order to create an expressive print. Prints are custom matted, from complementary color museum grade mat boards. Each print is signed, numbered, and dated on the white margin of the print. Each image is limited to 250 prints, no matter what the size or medium. When frames are ordered, those are also custom made by the artist.
