Here is where you will find my independent reviews of software and other products for digital photographers. I do not accept free copies from software/hardware manufacturers or write reviews using beta versions, demo copies, etc. All of my reviews are for products I have paid for and use (or intended to use).

There was a time when I accepted free software/hardware/books from publishers for review in their magazines. (I never accepted it from manufacturers.) I believe there is little question that negative reviews can reduce the number of opportunities for writing reviews. Manufacturers would prefer to find reviewers who always (or nearly always) write reviews that gush with praise.

Consumers Reports pays for the items they review, and I believe it is best to follow their example and avoid even the appearance of a conflict of interest.
